Surveillance Camera Systems/Closed Circuit Television (CCTV)
What is CCTV?
Closed Circuit Television is an integrated system of video cameras and
digital video recorders, or computers, used to monitor and record activity
at preselected times and places.
Digital Video Recorders
Digital Video Recorders (DVR's), and computers equipped with a video
capture card, store time and date stamped images on a hard drive. Stored
images are easily viewed and downloaded to a Compact Disc (CD) or Digital
Video Disk (DVD) as necessary. Each camera may be programmed to begin
recording when motion is detected.
Network TCP/IP Cameras
Network TCP/IP cameras are designed to integrate with existing building
networks. TCP/IP cameras are typically programmed to begin recording when
motion is detected to conserve system bandwidth. Recorded images are transmitted
over the computer network individual workstations. Live and recorded video
may be viewed and downloaded by authorized personnel.
